This weeks project 52:
These images are especially important to me. Two years ago on February 12th, one of the most important men in my life earned his wings... my grandfather! My grandpa was more like a dad to me then he was a grandfather. He was an artist himself and was incredibly gifted.
In the later part of his life, he spent much of his time, whether in good health or bad, trying to honor the men and women of our military by drawing pictures for the families who had lost a soldier in battle. My grandpa was recognized by some very highly esteemed individuals, but to me, the greatest accomplishment was his love for people, his family and his Heavenly Father.
Recently, my husband and I were finally going through some of the belongings passed down to me from him... before now it was just too painful and the task seemed overwhelming. Box after box, I came across an amazing camera. To tell you I was excited to hold in my hands a camera my grandfather had used to capture images himself, is an understatement!!!! Before my grandfather got sick he would take pictures of people (or anything for that matter) and then take his images and draw them on canvas. His images are breath-taking. So, you can see why I was so incredibly touched to be holding his camera in my own hands! He has truly been a catalyst for so many things in my life and he continues to inspire me.
Thank you Grandpa for continuing to urge me on to use my God-given talents to inspire others! I hope you're smiling! :0)
